Wildflower + Pearl’s Spiced Eggnog Cocktail

It all started many moons ago at a Christmas-themed college mixer. On a lonely beverage table nestled amongst empty, crumpled up PBR cans was the most alluring punch bowl. The bowl sparkled! I was intrigued. “It’s eggnog”, barked a slightly intoxicated acquaintance. In that realization, I finally managed to tear my eyes away from the shimmering vessel and glanced at what was inside. It was a creamy substance that embodied the perfume of sweet cream and vanilla (my two favorite things). In actuality, I’ve only heard of such a drink in movies. The common thought I often associated with eggnog is that people either love it or hate it. At that point in time, as an experienced bartender, I’ve never actually made it. Ultimately, my curiosity got the best of me. I settled on trying it. Why not? I vividly remember fishing the red solo cup out of the bowl. I then scooped a bit of the concoction and slowly poured it over melty ice. I quickly took a sip. The verdict… IT WAS DISGUSTING! My first try at eggnog was boozy and overly sweet. I should’ve known better. Being at a college mixer and knowing how precious alcohol is on a student’s budget, I drank it.

I didn’t let that experience forever deter me from giving eggnog another go. With age, I’ve grown to LOVE the taste of eggnog. Such a treat is an indicator of colder days and comfy clothes, warm blankets and blazing fires. Eggnog is THE DRINK of the Winter season. In this, I present Wildflower and Pearl’s Spiced Eggnog Cocktail. This recipe is made simple by utilizing a pre-made, non-alcoholic eggnog brand of your choice. We will then doctor it up with warm Winter spices and a good bourbon. If you wish, one can easily substitute the bourbon with a good spiced rum. I promise, this will be an eggnog you will absolutely adore.

Happy Sipping.
